Assorted Nestle Crunch chocolates
November 19, 2009 • Hello. I am currently out of the country and unable to respond to comments and e-mails. Rest assured, however, that future posts have been scheduled so new recipes will go live almost everyday during my absence. I'll be back soon with lots of stories and photos. Ciao for now! ~ Connie
The Nestle Crunch chocolate I grew up with was the chocolate bar–rectangular, rather thin with lots of rice crispies. That was the Nestle Crunch that we introduced to our kids when they were old enough to enjoy chocolates. And they loved it as much as my husband and I did when we were kids.
Being such Nestle Crunch lovers, when my husband saw this bag of assorted Nestle Crunch in the supermarket, he excitedly bought one. The ones with the blue wrapper are the ‘original’. The ones wrapped in orange is peanut butter flavored. Those wrapped in yellow is caramel and those wrapped in red is double chocolate. My 13-year-old liked the caramel. I liked the peanut butter. No one seemed to be particularly impressed with the double chocolate.
Now about the new size and shape… Wasn’t it Hershey’s that first came with the mini sizes? First there was the assorted miniature chocolates then, after that, the ‘nuggets’.
Thing is, with these half-inch thick Nestle Crunch ‘nuggets’, there’s not as much crunch with every bite. More chocolatey, yes, but not enough crunch. To think that those rice crispies and the crunch they gave were what made Nestle Crunch so special and different from other chocolate bars, well… it just isn’t the same. When we buy Nestle Crunch in the future, we’ll stick with the regular chocolate bars.
