Birthday dinner at Vieux Chalet
November 19, 2009 • Hello. I am currently out of the country and unable to respond to comments and e-mails. Rest assured, however, that future posts have been scheduled so new recipes will go live almost everyday during my absence. I'll be back soon with lots of stories and photos. Ciao for now! ~ ConnieWhen a restaurant is good, customers return. When a restaurant is great, customers return again and again. I can’t remember anymore how many times I’ve been to Vieux Chalet having been a regular since I was a law student. My kids are now 15 and 14, so, go figure. June 17 was my husband’s birthday and dinner was at Vieux Chalet. What an excuse not to observe my diet.
Finally got the chance too to take photos of the house specialty, Tony’s chicken — marinated, stuffed with fresh herbs and baked to perfection.

Named after Tony Hassig, Swiss expat and late founder of Vieux Chalet, it was our second time to enjoy this dish. The first time, I don’t think I brought a camera. Otherwise, I would have shared with Pinoy Cook readers photos of this gorgeous chicken dish much, much earlier.

Tony’s chicken was the main dish, of course. The meal actually started with a soup.

Per consultation with the girls, we ordered cream of broccoli soup served with toasted slices of five-grain bread and butter.

We never go to Vieux Chalet without ordering pasta. My husband’s choice — fettucine Alfredo. Superb, as always, with the restaurant’s own smoked ham.
What I wasn’t able to take photos of was the Swiss rosti which came and went so fast.
I’m already looking forward to the next excuse occasion to celebrate at Vieux Chalet. It’s always a treat to linger over a delightful meal on a veranda overlooking a panoramic view of the lights of Metro Manila.
Vieux Chalet Swiss Inn is located at Taktak Road, Antipolo City.

I have fond memories of that restaurant too. Haven’t been there in ages, but we always used to go up for milk, bread, cheese etc.
This post is a wake up to go back to pleasant memories and good food
Hope you have as much fun there as you used to. We always do. I really appreciate the consistency in the food and service. And the view is marvelous as always.
Connie, you made my day! I have not been to Vieux Chalet for ages! I miss the sausages, cheese cake and homemade icecream… Is the waiter still the same?
Hi Connie,
How much would an average meal per person now be at Vieux?
Blessings
Soul, you mean Rico? Yes, he’s still there. Still the most maasikaso person ever.
Mari, about P500.00.
Happy Birthday Connie! Those meals really looked scrumptious. Your birthday comes in after my anniversary. It’s been 9 years now and if we were there in the Philippines, I would def take hubby to that restaurant.
Doddie
Thanks, Doddie! It was hubby’s birthday.
Everything looks good and appetizing. Will definitely visit when we get home this coming new year.
Cannot remember the name anymore Connie, but for since 2002-2006 I saw only one waiter… that might be Rico.
There’s Rico and there’s Michael. Michael, for when Rico is off. Actually, we didn’t know there was a Michael until last Tuesday. It was always Rico that we saw.
