Blueberries and cream
In her TV show Nigella Express, Nigella Lawson made a similar dessert using strawberries, cream and crumbled meringue. My version has blueberries, cream and crumbled broas (lady fingers). The great thing about this dessert is the short preparation time. And by substituting blueberries for strawberries, there is no trimming and cutting involved.

Another great thing about this dessert is that it keeps well in the fridge overnight. Except for the topping, everything can be prepared a day ahead. The bonus is that allowing it to rest in the fridge overnight enables the lady fingers to soak up the liquids. After about 12 hours, the dessert turns into something almost like ice cream. But whether served at once or after several hours, this is an absolutely delicious dessert.

Serves 4.
Ingredients :
12 to 15 lady fingers
1 c. of fresh blueberries (you can use frozen blueberries but thaw and drain them well)
2 heaping tbsps. of sugar
2 c. of cream, well chilled
Coarsely crumble the lady fingers by breaking them with your hands.
Place the blueberries in a shallow bowl and sprinkle the sugar over them.
In a chilled bowl, beat the cream until soft peaks form. Stir in the crumbled lady fingers with light strokes so as not to break the air bubbles in the cream.
Reserve 4 teaspoonfuls of blueberries for the topping. Add the rest (including the juices) to the cream and fold gently. Do not over mix or you’ll have a blue mess. What you want is for the juices to leave blue streaks all over the cream.
Spoon the blueberries and cream into glasses. Top with the reserved blueberries. Serve at once or keep in the fridge until needed.

Where do you buy fresh blueberries?
Unimart or S&R. Frozen in resealable bags. A bit pricey but one bag can be made into four different desserts and they keep for a long time in the freezer. Sulit na rin.
Will your recipe work with canned blueberries? Thanks, ms. C
I don’t think so, Boo.
Can I also use frozen cranberries instead of frozen blueberries? Do you think it will taste that good same with the blueberries? Thanks connie love all your recipes!
Cranberries are much much more sour. You may need to sweeten the cream more.
