Clams, noodles, chicken, taro and a food column
In an unexpected twist of events, Feast Asia is now on print. No, not as a cookbook — not yet, anyway — but as a food column. Last week, I got a text massage message from the Lifestyle editor of Manila Standard Today (where I write an opinion column Tuesdays and Thursdays) asking if I was interested in writing a food column. I didn’t even need to think about it. I didn’t even negotiate about rates. I just said yes. And when I was asked what I want the food column to be called, I said Feast Asia. My first Feast Asia column came out today.

That said, let me tell you what’s new in Feast Asia, the food blog. I’ve mentioned the yakisoba entry earlier, now let me introduce to you the three latest recipes I posted there. First, the clams in ponzu sauce, a very easy to cook Japanese dish that makes you wonder why you’ve only cooked clams as a soup all your life.
Second, pandan-wrapped chicken — fried this time rather than oven grilled. Addictive stuff, really. And, lastly, a step-by-step guide on how to make taro puffs at home.
Want more? Stay tuned. Squid relleno and a few other mouth-watering dishes are next in the menu.

Hi Ms. Conny! May I share something with you that might be of interest? it’s about food history, written by a Chinese blogger. He writes about the significance of food in Chinese culture and religion, as well as other aspects of Chinese faith. His latest article is on the history of spring rolls.

Thanks, Raine. Re Foodbuzz: because they put a blog’s pages inside a frame. I really don’t like that.

Thanks, Dex. The cooking adventure never stops, does it? A wild ride, indeed!
Congratulations, Connie! You really rock! I’m an avid fan of your recipes. My daughter will try the self-frosting Nutella Cupcakes today.
