Cooking pans

When we browse through food magazines or watch cooking shows on TV, a kitchen is always presented as an interior designer’s masterpiece. Lots of shiny cooking pans hanging on the wall or from the ceiling, fresh herbs and vegetables on the counter, colorful plates, immaculately clean everything… Well, that’s showbiz. Just how many cooking pans does one really need?

stainless steel cooking pans

Personally, three are enough — large, medium and small. I bought this set of stainless steel cooking pans over ten years ago and they’re still in perfect condition. No dents, no chips, no cracks. The handles (stainless steel, not plastic) and screwed in and welded into the body. It’s a German brand, I know that much although I can’t remember the name. I couldn’t pronounce it when I bought the pans and it’s kinda hard to remember something one couldn’t even pronounce. The price back then? About a thousand pesos. Where? Unimart in Greenhills.

  1. Good choice for pots! But, have you ever considered buying/using a Dutch oven? I’ve been thinking about whether getting a stainless steel or a cast iron Dutch oven. And I can only afford one because of my tiny kitchen apartment.

Thanks a lot Miss Connie for answering such questions (in advance), newbie here and just started out cooking and baking lately n_n May I also ask for any suggestion on what good/decent cooking pans to buy? I would really love to buy nalang something na talagang good investment na =)

Just want to share, minsan umiiwas ako sa site mo, why? because once I started reading a recipe, i just could not stop it, haha eh nasa office pa naman ako, nakaka-adik kasi, at parang gusto ko lutuin na lahat haha, thanks a lot! GBU and ur family =)

Daji, yes, pans with thin bottoms aren’t good for stir frying because they can’t withstand the extreme heat. There are aluminum woks with thick bottoms though. Can’t recommend brands though. What you see in the photo is German made but I can’t remember the brand anymore. I’ve had then since 1996 and they’re still good as new. I like ceramic cooking pots too. Corningware.
