Going meatless for Lent?
November 19, 2009 • Hello. I am currently out of the country and unable to respond to comments and e-mails. Rest assured, however, that future posts have been scheduled so new recipes will go live almost everyday during my absence. I'll be back soon with lots of stories and photos. Ciao for now! ~ ConnieWhen the Lenten season sets in, I always get asked for meatless dishes. Last year, I chose 18 of my favorite meatless recipes from the archive and posted them as my recommendations. Well, I’ve cooked a lot more meatless dishes between then and now so here is another list of recommended meatless dishes. A note though: this list is not meant for those who intend to go fasting.
Above, top row (left to right): Trevally (talakitok) with homemade pesto; Pasta with clams in red wine sauce; Steamed fish with oyster sauce.
Above, bottom row (left to right): Yellow fried rice with shrimps and coconut cream; Fish and tofu with pesto; Baked mussels with butter and cheese.
More? Okay, I got 18 more.
Above, top row (left to right): Pasta primavera with fresh tuna; Tuna and cabbage spring rolls; Tofu with three sauces.
Above, bottom row (left to right): Salmon and tomato soup; Fish and malunggay soup; Baked mac and cheese.
Above, top row (left to right): Fish and vegetables frittata; Chili garlic prawns; Anchovies and eggs mish-mash.
Above, bottom row (left to right): Braised tilapia; Penne with creamed portobello mushrooms; Cheese topped buttered vegetables.
Above, top row (left to right): Sinigang na kanduli sa miso (catfish in soup soup); Smoked milkfish, mushrooms and tofu spring rolls; Pasta putanesca.
Above, bottom row (left to right): Fish ‘n’ chips; Mashed potato and pesto spring rolls; Crispy galunggong (Mackarel scad) fish cakes.
This list does NOT include all of the meatless recipes I’ve posted over the past 12 months, you might still want to use to search bar and the category drop-down menu (on the topmost part of the right sidebar), but these are among my favorites.
