New Year’s Eve menu: rib – eye steaks, mashed potatoes, buttered vegetables, and peaches and cream

This was what we had for dinner on Christmas Eve. Not the traditional noche buena meal at midnight which we really don’t observe but dinner at the regular hour. Between dinner and until the clock struck midnight, we played a game of Monopoly.
I am posting this as one entry because I intend for you to get a complete picture — if you prepare an uncomplicated meal, I assure you that you will enjoy it more because you will not feel too tired nor too harassed. And I bet that your family will appreciate a wife/mommy/cook who is more in the mood for chatting, joking and bantering.

Start with a light soup. Clams or mussels in a clear broth are not only easy to prepare, they provide a great contrast to a very meaty main dish too.

Then, a main dish consisting of butter fried rib-eye steaks served with mashed potatoes, buttered fresh mushrooms and sweet peas.

Finally, a dessert that is just the perfect conclusion to a hearty meal — peaches and cream with a graham cracker crust and a filling that is firm yet light, sweet without being overwhelming and good enough for a second helping. Best enjoyed with chocolate mint coffee.

christmas eve, ng game boy at psp lang kme ng nephew ko. habang yung brother ko nakababad ang mata sa mga anime dvd. since 3 lang kme we opted for a simple christmas dinner, unlike sa mga nakaraan namin pasko na marami kme. we just had good ole spaghetti, request ng brother ko, then old fashion fried chicken, no breading and complicated marinade, just calamansi, salt and pepper (kamiss din ito), then ham sandwich.
pero sa new year, bongga dapat! never had steak ng new year, try ko nga to.

Hi Ma’am! Happy Holidays! Similar to what I prepared on Christmas Eve, except the steak. A friend gave me ham for Christmas and i just fried it and made pineapple-barbeque sauce. Also made mashed potatoes and buttered vegetables (carrots-mushroom-corn-brocolli). For dessert I served my lazy alayang ube (what I did was just boil the ube without the skin and just mashed it and added margarine and condensed milk, that’s it). But I would definitely try to make the peaches and cream. Thanks Ma’am for the recipe!
