No meat during Lent?

Rest assured, however, that future posts have been scheduled so new recipes will go live almost everyday during my absence. I'll be back soon with lots of stories and photos. Ciao for now! ~ Connie

I am posting this as a future entry because I will be going away with my family for a week. It is the afternoon of March 16, Sunday, as I post this but this entry goes live on Tuesday morning.

It is Lent and a lot of people go meatless during this time. There are a lot of seafood recipes in the archive and the ones in the photos below are some of them. Just click on the photos to view the recipes.

steamed pompano   clam soup with malunggay leaves

squid adobo   butterflied mudfish

tuna lumpia (spring rolls)   steamed fish with chopped carrots and eggs

pineapple fish   mussel (tahong) soup

stuffed grilled squid   sinigang na sugpo (sour soup with prawns)

steamed fish with olive oil   kilawing talaba (oysters)

bangus (milkfish) steaks a la pobre   adobong palos (eel)

steamed pompano with ginger sauce   fish fritters with honey-lemon sauce

tuna kilawin   tinapa (smoked fish) lumpia (spring rolls)

Enjoy the seafood and watch out for the pasta with clams and red wine which will go live on Thursday morning, Manila time.

    dear connie,
    enjoy the rest of the week ok.? by the way, i am and my kids are a huge fan of your corn muffins and corn dog. since landmark doesnt carry anymore the cornmeal i bought my supply at parksons duty free in clarkfield, angeles city and purchased 3 boxes. there are 2 dozens left on their shelf. i kept my boxes inside the ref. is that ok? kasi minsan nagkakaroon ng kuto. yikes… fyi lang. so some will know. i know a lot of us are going away and these shops dont close for the holidays.

    Heh, since childhood I always snicker at the fact that “meatlessness” is useless for me because I absolutely love fish.

    the cornmeal brand is ALBERS. the same as the one at landmark.

    arny, I also bought cornmeal at Parkson’s last time we were there. Sadly, they already had bukbok when I opened them at home. If yours are still okay, refrigerating will really prolong their usability.

    Jon, so which one did you cook? hehehe
