Pepperoni and cheese stuffed bread rolls
November 19, 2009 • Hello. I am currently out of the country and unable to respond to comments and e-mails. Rest assured, however, that future posts have been scheduled so new recipes will go live almost everyday during my absence. I'll be back soon with lots of stories and photos. Ciao for now! ~ ConnieSometimes, you dream up of something that’s great for a meal for one and, at the same time, pretty enough and easy enough to prepare for a party.

What are they? They are what the title says — pepperoni and cheese stuffed bread rolls. Served warm, the cheese is soft and gooey and every bite bursts with the mixed flavors of the pepperoni and cheese.
To make them, cut off the crusts of sliced (loaf) bread. Flatten the crustless bread with a rolling pin.
Arrange a few slices of pepperoni (three is a good number) across the middle of each bread and top with a generous strip of cheese.
Roll up the bread, dip in beaten egg and fry in plenty of hot oil.

Remove the fried bread from the oil, drain on several layers of absorbent paper towels and cut into one to two-inch slices. Serve at once.

i’ve done something similar several times, never used pepperoni though. It hasn’t turned as picturesque as yours though. haha
I noticed you just used egg, i add japanese bread crumbs pa kse. Next time i’ll try nga without.
Oh. My. Gosh.
That looks amazingly sinful.
peterb, the breadcrumbs absorb too much oil, don’t they? and they brown too fast.
Gaby, sinfully delicious.
Hi Ms. Connie, I’m Jewel, a writer for Working Mom Magazine. We’re doing a feature on the favorite caterers of foodies for their holiday parties. Do you ever have your parties catered? If yes, who do you call on and what’s your fave dish from the caterer? Hope to hear from you through email. Thanks!
connie, looks good and easy to make. pwede bang ham or bacon instead of pepperoni (to make it more sinful).haha! i’ve tasted something similar to this sa dulcinea before, its called Bocaditos. sarap ng crust nya, heard of it?
Taj, yes, you can use other meat. But if using bacon, it has to be cooked bacon. No, am not familiar with Bocaditos although I used to get a Dulcinea fix when I was pregnant with my firstborn.
connie, yeah it does absorb a lot of oil. i also use a very low fire to cook it to avoid burning it. i like using it because it adds crunch to the bread. though i must confess, i haven’t tried cooking without it.
taj, in the similar thing i do, i’ve tried using ham, chicken, cheese even crabsticks. i know some people who even use asparagus and cheese.
Asparagus and cheese sounds wonderful!!!
hi ms connie, what kind of cheese did you use? quickmelt or cheddar…?
Kraft Cheddar, rannie.
sounds marvy! i’ll sure try this one.
Quick and easy snacks for kids! I love this!
i’ve tried this recipe and i’ve put mustard cream before the ham and cheese. and it gives a zest on its taste! yummy! and instead of bread crumps, i used finely crushed skyflakes.
i love pizza rolls, i have a friend that also cook that pizza roll but you have a very nice idea to cut it in bite sizes, by the way do you have recipe for banana bread? i really love to buy banana bread and wish i can make one. Please share some recipe for banana bread if you have. Thanks a lot, i’m learning a lot from you.
AFTER YOU FLATTEN THE BREAD, SPREAD PIZZA SAUCE ON BREAD THEN PUT TOPPINGS (your choice), ROLL, DIP IN BEATEN EGG, ROLL IN BREAD CRUMBS THEN FRY! (use class A breadcrumbs para hindi matigas) TRY THIS! so yummy! use hot pizza sauce to add taste.
Girlshop, it’s called pizzaron (link).
I just made this last night for my boyfriend and he LOVES it!!
I made some changes though cause some of the ingredients aren’t as easy to find here as in the Philippines.. And I added crushed cornflakes with parmesan instead of breadcrumbs (or no crumbs at all^^)
Thanks so much! I’ll definitely be doing this often!!
guys, do u deep fry this? wat temp? or pan fry? how much oil?
Ronald, there is quite a lot of text above and below the photos.
yeah…it is soooooo good!!
what did you use to make the breads stick together when you fry them?
Maria, the bread is rolled and dipped in beaten egg. The egg is the binder.
