Smoked salmon and tofu stir fry

Smoked salmon is one of life’s greatest pleasures. LOL No, really, I love smoked salmon. Give me smoked salmon and I won’t ask for anything else. It was supposed to be a birthday treat from my husband but he couldn’t find a reasonably sized pack that time. Two months later, I was doing my last minute Christmas shopping, and there it was. Large enough to satisfy but not too large for leftovers. Just perfect. We were supposed to have it on Christmas Eve with some white wine. But there was all that ham and the lettuce was fresh and we went for ham sandwiches instead.
So, my smoked salmon sat in the freezer for a couple of days. After all the meat over the holidays, we were all craving for something light yesterday. I was telling my husband that I was thinking of starting a tofu category in my food blog and we started talking about tofu and… well, he seemed pleased about my plan because it means healthier, and less fattening, food in the house.

I can’t classify this dish as Chinese exactly because I used sambal oelek to spice it up. It is still basically a Chinese a stir fry though. Looks gorgeous, doesn’t it? It tastes better than it looks. And cooking this dish is a breeze.

[...] When someone from Blogads asked if I was interested in receiving a vegetarian cookbook which I could review if I wanted to, I said yes. Not that I’m planning on turning vegetarian in the foreseeable future but, like I said when I posted my smoked salmon and tofu stir fry, I had been consciously trying to cook more vegetables lately. Actually i first saw your pages “house on the hill” i think a year ago and i bookmark but i lost all my files overloaded ang PC. Then one day accidentally found you again and it was “SASSY LAWYER’S” page. Surprise again one day at Pinoy cook par hazard!

Hi Sassy,
I am a big fan of your site. I’m glad that it is up and running again. I will try this recipe. Like you, me and my husband planned on eating healthier foods this year. By the way, since you are planning on preparing tofu dishes, I hope you can post one with eggplant and tofu. My husband likes to eat this at Panda Express restaurant. Haven’t tried experimenting on it myself.
More power and Happy New Year to you and your family.
Hello po,
I’m a new reader , about 3 months I believe. Mahilig din po akong magluto, although I don’t have the luxury of doing it always(I’m a 23 year old single who works non stop) I still make sure that when I have time ,the dishes are delicious and healthy.
hehe
thank God for this blog

Dexie, and we had fish again last night. Will post it in a bit.
Shaaaa….. tapos na inuman dito ha. Ikaw ha hahahahaha
Noemi, try adjusting you browser settings. If you’re using IE, add this blog to the list of “safe sites”.
Maria, I have a couple already in the archives. Just click the “tofu” link in the category list.
Good for you, Kats. You know, sometimes, cooking can be a way to unwind too.
Smoked salmon and tofu are two of my favorites, but smoke salmon and tofu togehter? The combination seems disagreeable, but I will hold my judgement until after I try your recipe. Perhaps the sambal olek will help bridge the two disparate ingredients.
When the previously “untried” turns out to be a wonderful invention, eating is heaven.
great recipe, great blog! i was wondering if you could post recipes of gourmet sandwiches or other quick, non-messy meals i could bring to school. something i don’t have to pack in plastic baon kit and just stuff in a ziploc and a paperbag. i’m an ova-lacto vegetarian freshman Law student and it drives me crazy that I have to eat at Powerplant everyday when i could just prepare food at home. thanks!
Vegetarian, Vida…??? oooh, sorry, i don’t think i have relevant tips.
that’s ok. your recipes here are fantastic, anyway. hehe.
where can i buy smoked salmon? is it the same with salmon sashimi?
eiram, no, they’re not the same. but smoked salmon is available in bigger supermarkets and deli stores.
